How/Where to start coaching?

To start your coaching career you have a few options:
Firstly select a soccer club close to you or a club that your child goes to or plays with.
Ask the office at the club for any information regarding coaching and what assistance they can
give you as a new coach.
You may be surprised at the response, most clubs are very friendly and always looking for people who wish
to start coaching.
The best time to look for a club would be when that club has a sign on day for players,
this is usually about a month or two before a season starts.
It's easier if you start coaching at the bottom age group like under 6s or under 7s mainly because these players
would know less about the game than you do.
Ask the club's Director of Coaching or Junior Development Officer to drawn up a coaching plan for you.
This will give you a guide line of how to map out a training session and keep it interesting and fun.
Ask your D.O.C or J.D.O to assist you in the first few training session so you feel comfortable,
and that the work you are doing is correct.
If you are keen about coaching ask the club for information regarding courses and licences required
to gain further knowledge and experience.
(Your on your way to coaching.)
Please remember a few simple hints on coaching:
1/  Always look like a coach ( the kids like that )
2/  Always make training sessions fun and educational.
3/  Pre plan your training sessions so they run smoothly ( get a drill-training time form )
4/  Never yell at the kids, no matter what.
5/  Never swear at the kids.
6/  Never smoke during a training session.
7/  Never drink beer or spirits before training.
8/  Make sure all the players have safety gear on ( Boots, Shin Pads )
9/  Make sure all players have water.
10/  Make sure all parents know when coaching sessions are on and their times.

Now you're underway, just relax and have fun yourself, the experience will be great and rewarding.
